Abstract

The propose of this research was to estimate the stature from percutaneous length of Tibia and Ulna in Thai population for using in the field of forensic science. A study was done in Thai population. The data obtained from 400 samples comprising of 188 males and 212 females aging ranged from 20-55 years old. The measurements were taken by using Vernier caliper. The length of Tibia was measured as a distance from the inner border of medial condyle to the farthest point of the medial malleolus. The length of Ulna was measured as a straight distance from the most proximal point of olecranon process to the most distal point of the styloid process. Regression analysis was required to transform the measurements on stature to obtain appropriate regression equations.

The results from this study indicated the Tibial and Ulna length were significantly correlated with stature. Regression equations was sufficiently validated. Thus, Tibial and Ulna length can be used to estimate stature in Thai population.
