Abstract

Height and gender forecasting of an unidentified person, which is the most important in forensic science. Although, there are several ways to identify people such as a fingerprint or DNA. The height and gender forecasting can be made from the long bones. However in the event of natural disasters or major accidents, and including the murder of a underhand mutilated body may cause the state funeral of the deceased have been damaged or lost as an opportunity to find a complete skeleton has fewer. Therefore an using the size of Frontal Sinus to predict gender and height is an important factor that increases the probability of correctly identifying.

This study aims to examine the relationship between gender and height to the size of the frontal sinus, and create equation to be used in Thai population gender and height forecasting. The sample size by 4 positions of measurements from 156 radiographic photo of frontal sinus. Then calculated by statistical methods using Logistic Regression to find the relationship to gender, and Linear Regression correlation with height. And the variables that have the most sex and height. Then using the Stepwise method to find the equation that correlated with most relationship with gender and high and the standard error is minimum. The results showed that the model with Rt. High- Lt. Broad as independent variables that can separate sex and 76.5% accuracy statistically significant, when testing the fit of the model, and the chi – square values = 7.453, sig – 0.489 > 0.05. But the forecast of high is 20.4% and the standard error of prediction was + 6.708. Interpretation that size of frontal sinus correlated with and forecasting gender accuracy statistically significant, but it not suitable to be applied for human‘s height forecasting.
