Abstract

The study of jar burial practice in the Mun-Chi Basins aim to study the aspects of ancient societies who practiced the jar burial in the Mun-Chi Basins, to study the changes that occurred in those communities, to study the similarities and the differences between those communities and to study the whole pattern of jar burial practices in the Mun-Chi Basins.

The approaches of this study included the analysis of skeletons in burial jars, form and the disposal of burial jars, forms of burial jars, and grave goods that found associated with jars, comparative study between 3 sites such as Mueng Boran Nakhorn Jampasri, Non Kea, and Ban Mueng Bua, as well as documentary sources about jar burial sites in the Mun-Chi Basins and other countries

The result of the study were : 1) The communities whose practice jar burial were chiefdom societies. 2) Those communities had changed through historical periods. 3) The comparative of the three sites were chiefdom societies. 4) The jar burial pattern of each sites had their own mortuary practices.
